D PLUS D Events had the pleasure to work with Southern Cross Austereo for their ‘Triple M Rocks Footy’ NRL event in February at the SCG Members Pavilion.

The Event

Southern Cross Austereo and their Sydney radio station, Triple M, held a season launch for their NRL coverage & announcement of the their commentary team for 2020. Triple M Footy held their NRL season launch, celebrating 15 years of NRL coverage on the FM station. The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is an iconic venue infused with 150 years of sporting history. The event spaces in the heritage-listed Members Pavilion, offer breathtaking views of the ground and an unmatched atmosphere for events.  The season launch was held in the Members Pavilion & included the Long Bar, Mezzanine and Dining Room. The spaces are traditional with immense sporting history, embodied in the original Victorian features, an old cedar wood bar and sports memorabilia on display.

The Brief

The client brief itself was to most importantly reflect the image of the brand, yet also ensure that the styling was complimentary to the venue. The styling was to be tailored more specifically towards a masculine dominated event demographic. This also had to include feature elements such as an entry photo opportunity and stage backdrop, to effectively showcase the client brand.

The space at the venue itself was quite grand for the 150 guests to be in attendance, therefore it was important to appropriately style the space so that the event didn’t become disjointed, and encouraged guests to socialise in a more confined space. The event had to include both Cocktail and Lounge furniture.

The Proposal & Execution

The masculine element to the event was incorporated into the styling through the use of Timber Tables & Aston Leather Lounges. For the styling, we chose to integrate elements of Gold Metallics & Greenery to liven up the space.

For the entry, guests were encouraged to take a photo in front of the impressive Round Gold Mesh Screen with Large Foliage embellishments, and Neon Sign. Plants on either side of the screen also enclosed half of the space, which encouraged guest to continue up the stairs to the main function area.

Guests were invited to mingle around Cocktail Tables set with Gold Vases of Foliage, or sit in the comfortable Lounge Pods, dressed with Gold Arrow Coffee Tables, and completed with complimentary cushions. The Lounge Pods were focussed at one side of the room to encourage guests to gather more closely together, to allow for an intimate event setting.

On the stage, a green Faux Living Wall with client logo provided a perfect backdrop to the event guest speakers and presentations.

The Result

The event was a great success, and the client was grateful for the quick turn-around from the initial enquiry, to the styling proposal and quoting process. They were also impressed with the efficient on-site service and the result reflected just what the client had envisioned from the initial styling proposal.
